North Bournemouth PCN are working in collaboration with University Hospitals Dorset and the British Heart Foundation.
We are taking part in a project to improve the cholesterol levels of patients who have had a heart attack, stroke or other heart related event in the past, with the aim of reducing the risk of them having more heart related problems in the future.
This new service is called the ‘Secondary prevention lipid clinic’. GPs will refer patients who have high cholesterol and are eligible to be seen by the Service. The Secondary Prevention Lipid team will then arrange a review or appointment with patients directly. During the appointment they will review possible medication changes or may discuss the newer injectable lipid/cholesterol lowering agents. Clinics will be run from Bearwood Medical Centre on Thursdays.
